Terms of use

These terms govern access to and use of Lienzora. By using the site, you agree to these conditions and the privacy policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

1. Nature of the service

Lienzora is a bilingual visual atlas for cultural and educational purposes. It lets you explore Open Access artworks, read editorial content, save favorites locally, and use visual tools in your browser. The current version does not offer accounts, payments, or remote project storage.

2. Informational content

Titles, dates, attributions, dimensions, classifications, and other catalog data may contain errors, be incomplete, or change at the source. Lienzora's editorial text, analysis, translations, tags, and palettes are informational. Check the official record and specialist sources before making academic, professional, commercial, or legal decisions.

3. Images, data, and third-party rights

Lienzora displays records that The Met Collection API identifies as public domain and provides with an image. The Met releases its Open Access materials under Creative Commons Zero (CC0), but you should verify legal status, credits, and any possible third-party rights in the official record before reusing an artwork. Availability on Lienzora is not a legal warranty or separate authorization.

The names, trademarks, and logos of The Metropolitan Museum of Art and other owners belong to their respective holders. Lienzora is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by The Met. Read The Met's terms and the sources and rights page.

4. Lienzora content

Except for third-party or identified Open Access materials, Lienzora's design, code, editorial selection, original text, and identity elements are protected by applicable rights. You may link to pages and use the site for personal and educational purposes. You may not impersonate Lienzora, remove authorship notices, or substantially reproduce the site or its text without authorization or an applicable legal exception.

5. Tools and files

Palette, contrast, color, aspect-ratio, and composition results are approximations and may vary by image, browser, display, and calculation method. They are not certified colorimetric measurements and do not guarantee regulatory accessibility. You must be authorized to use any file you select and are responsible for checking the result before publishing or applying it.

6. Favorites and local data

Favorites and preferences are saved in your browser. They may be lost when you clear data, change browser or device, use private browsing, or reinstall your system. Lienzora does not provide backup or recovery; use the export option if you want to keep a copy.

7. Acceptable use

When using Lienzora, you agree not to:

  • use the service unlawfully or infringe the rights of others;
  • introduce malicious code, bypass security controls, or attempt unauthorized access to systems or data;
  • overload, interrupt, or degrade the site, its APIs, or third-party services;
  • make high-volume automated requests, engage in abusive extraction, or breach the terms or limits of The Met or other providers;
  • use the site's trademarks, content, or appearance deceptively or in a way that suggests a nonexistent affiliation or endorsement.

8. External services and links

Some features depend on Cloudflare, The Met, and external links. Each third party operates under its own terms and policies. Lienzora does not control their availability, content, security, or changes, and a link does not imply endorsement.

9. Availability and changes

The service is provided as available. It may experience interruptions, limits, errors, or changes, particularly when an external provider changes or restricts its API. Lienzora may correct, modify, suspend, or remove features and content, and may restrict uses that compromise service security or stability.

10. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Lienzora is provided "as is" and "as available," without express or implied warranties of accuracy, continuity, fitness for a particular purpose, availability, or freedom from errors. Lienzora will not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses arising from use, inability to use, loss of local data, or reliance on third-party content and services. Nothing in these terms excludes liabilities or rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

11. Changes and contact

These terms may be updated to reflect service changes or legal requirements. The date above identifies the current version; continued use after publication means acceptance of the updated version where permitted by law. For questions or notices about content and rights, use the contact page. Lienzora must publish a valid contact email there before public launch.
